The excitement of my year started moments after my crowning, when I had my head shaved on stage as the last part of my cancer charity fundraising. I was able to fundraise over $10,000 that year!
The rest of my fulfilling year as Miss Charity BC included charity promotion and fundraising, community service, promoting health awareness, and connecting with the public and children at various events. One week after crowning my successor in July 2014, I married my biggest supporter and best friend, and we recently adopted two rescue kittens. I am currently studying at UBC Medical School with anticipated receipt of my M.D. in 2018.
I owe a lot of happiness and success to the Miss BC pageant for providing training and opportunities that were essential to my personal growth. The best part of my experience was joining the entire Miss BC pageant family; I treasure all the friendships I made with my fellow 2013 titleholders, titleholders from other years, and all the wonderful staff at Courage Productions. Many of the amazing women who have come through the program continue to inspire me today.
This program is life changing and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to make friendships and make a difference in their community! I am eternally grateful for the experiences I have had with the Miss BC Pageant and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
